Better Commercial Mix- Supporting Local Business
Small and medium-sized businesses are essential for a healthy, balanced community. They provide jobs, services, and character that big-box stores cannot. Ivins already has a strong master plan that addresses business growth, but we need to make it easier and more attractive for businesses to choose Ivins. Without that balance, the burden hangs a little too much to the side of Property Taxes.

IDEA 1: Simplify the process | Streamline permitting and approvals for small and medium-sized businesses. Clear timelines, fewer steps, and a “one-stop shop” approach at City Hall would make starting or expanding a business less complicated and more predictable.

-
IDEA 2: Business hubs, not scattered growth | Encourage businesses to locate in designated, convenient areas rather than spreading randomly across town. Concentrated hubs create synergy between businesses, reduce traffic strain, and keep the character of residential neighborhoods intact.

IDEA 3: Incentives for local investment | Consider targeted incentives—such as modest fee reductions, expedited approvals, or infrastructure support—for businesses that align with our community’s needs and values. This keeps the focus on quality while helping entrepreneurs overcome the initial cost hurdles.
